SAO PAULO – A passenger plane, capable of seating several dozen people, has crashed in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state on Friday, according to local media. The exact number of individuals on board remains unknown at this time.
Local fire department officials confirmed that the aircraft went down in the city of Vinhedo but have yet to release further details.
Footage broadcast by Brazil’s TV GloboNews depicted a large area engulfed in flames with thick smoke rising from what appears to be the plane’s fuselage. Additional clips showed the aircraft spiraling downward before the crash.
Brazil’s airport management company, Infraero, has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the incident. Additionally, no reports of missing aircraft have been made by local airlines as of this update.
