We spoke to Raven Keiara about working on the “Show Me” music production.

What drew you to want to work for this musical project?

I feel the challenge is to evolve. I was looking to do something different this summer. Last summer I spent time studying at NYU and it was about academics. I’m a closet nerd. After I graduated from high school in June 2024, I was ready to dive into new beginnings. I was approached about the video, loved the song, and scored the part. And the rest as they say, is history.

Are you more of an R&B girl or lean more towards Pop music?

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve always been an R&B girl through and through. I love Pop for when I need a pick-me-up or as I’m getting ready to go. But, R&B is definitely what I vibe to on the day to day. It’s smooth soul and still has amazing appeal for decades on in. With new R&B songs in rotation like “Show Me” you can’t kill my vibe.

What was it like working with Issac Ryan Brown on the “Show Me” video?

Issac is so talented. Because I had worked with him before I am aware of his level of dedication to his craft. We have synergy that comes across well to the audiences we appeal to. Issac is a true performer and loves to entertain. I believe he unleashed a performance that will solidify him as a force in the industry. His level of being a talent began at a young age so he has definitely perfected his showmanship. Never underestimate the power of working with someone who values excellence and creativity. There was no set discomfort. We just had fun.

What message do you want to convey through the video and your appearance in “Show Me”?

I want girls and women to question what they are really passionate about and recognize the value of their unique artistic expressions. You can’t control every aspect so don’t worry about measuring up to other video vixens. Wait. Did I just call myself a vixen? (Laughter) Really, be yourself, break molds, live authentically. Embark on your own adventure of discovering your newfound joy of being unapologetically you.

What advice would you give to young people who dream of pursuing a career in entertainment?

Free yourself from fear. More exciting things are being done by women today than ever before. To see SZA and Keke Palmer land lead roles in an Issa Rae-produced comedy film tells me that the climate has changed significantly. Find ways to immerse yourself in projects that trigger your body to release energy-boosting adrenaline. Banish your inner director self and find ways to get involved and produce projects, and trust me, there are many ways to create them. Stick to passion and purpose and you’ll get to where you’re supposed to be. What you need is a desire and a dream.
