Cenyc: A Return to Purpose Through Music and Passion

Cenyc: A Return to Purpose Through Music and Passion

For some, music is a career. For others, it’s a calling. In the case of New York-born artist Cenyc (pronounced “scenic”), it’s been both a compass and a constant—even when life pulled him in unexpected directions.

Born Chris Pfund, his earliest memories include banging out rhythms on Tupperware lids with chopsticks. A prodigy of sorts, Cenyc was already jamming alongside the likes of RatDog by the second grade, even landing a surreal invite to perform at the Library of Congress. But early milestones didn’t guarantee a straight path. As he grew older, Cenyc wrestled with self-doubt and the social pressure to blend in, temporarily putting his music on hold.

Instead, he chased a different dream: professional arena football. Touring the country with teams from Raleigh to Philly, he lived the athlete’s life—until injury sidelined his season and redirected his focus. The final pivot came in 2022, with the birth of his daughter. The moment forced reflection: How could he inspire her to dream big if he wasn’t doing the same?

That spark reignited Cenyc’s creative fire. Now, with renewed purpose, he’s back to making music—not for fame, but for legacy. His sound blends the energy of a stage dive with the emotional nuance of fatherhood and self-rediscovery.

Whether behind a mic or breaking tackles on the turf, one thing remains clear: Cenyc was born to make noise. And this time, he’s not holding back.
