Rapper Lil Wayne has been added as a playable character to the NBA 2K23 video game in the MyTEAM mode’s Crossover series. In a trailer posted on Instagram, Lil Wayne can be seen dribbling and making a slam dunk, wearing the colours of his favourite team, the Los Angeles Lakers. He also shared a behind-the-scenes clip, which showed the process involved in creating his digitized likeness for the game. Despite his relatively small stature, Lil Wayne has an impressive 89 overall rating in the game and can play as a point guard or shooting guard.
Rappers J. Cole and Jack Harlow were also added as playable characters in November 2022, both with 89 overall ratings. Cole was additionally announced as the cover star for the DREAMER Edition of NBA 2K23, making him the first rapper to appear on the cover of the game.
Outside of the game, Lil Wayne is preparing to go on tour for his recently announced Welcome To Tha Carter Tour, which will take him to 28 cities across the United States from April 4 to May 13, 2023. He is also currently working on his new album, Tha Carter 6, which he announced during a Young Money reunion performance with Drake and Nicki Minaj at the World Weekend festival in October 2022. He has been collaborating with the likes of Wyclef Jean and Juelz Santana on the album.
In a recent tweet, Lil Wayne congratulated LeBron James on breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA scoring record, stating, “Kongrats King!! Glad to say I’ve shaken your hand brudda. God bless you and the fam and the homies.”
